  21. Dynamic IP adressing is usually only used when your computer isn't always
  22. connected to internet (e.g. via a provider or a university). It means, that
  23. your computer don't get the same IP adress every time when connecting it.

  25. Static IP adressing means, that a computer has always the same IP adress. This
  26. method is used for all continous connected computers and also by providers.

  28. The advantages of static IP adressing are, that you can be reached with the same
  29. IP adress from outside (e.g. if somebody wants to get files via FTP from your or
  30. if somebody wants to TALK to you, ...) and the setup with a SLIP-connection is
  31. usually easier.

  33. The advantages of dynamic IP adressing is, that the provider or unversity
  34. do need less IP-adresses for their log-in accounts. Providers with dynamic
  35. IP adressing should be cheaper :-)
